Hark fellow monster hunters, an adventure worthy of your attention hath appeared over the horizon! Capcom have announced Dragon's Dogma, an adventure set in a realm with plenty of monsters and plenty of hunting involved.
The game looks great, announced at Captivate 2011, a debut trailer was shown depicting plenty of action sequences and a myriad of European inspired mythological beasts. Led by the dynamic duo that brought you Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 4, apparently Dragon's Dogma has been in development for a good three years.
"This is a game that I have wanted to make for many years," Hideaki said. "I've never felt that we had the technology in place to take on a project of this scale. Now, we have consoles powerful enough and a development team at Capcom knowledgeable enough to bring this vision to life."
"While they may have some superficial similarities, they are very different games at heart," director Hideaki Itsuno said about the Monster Hunter comparisons. "One key difference is that Dragon's Dogma has an overarching story whereas in Monster Hunter the focus is on the hunt."
There are over 200 individual NPCs residing within the game world, all of whom you can recruit to bring on your adventures and while multiplayer is mentioned, Capcom was pretty hush-hush on the actual details.
