With Project Cafe set for an official unveil at this year's E3, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has stated that the console's controller will still feature traditional buttons and directional pads.
Speaking to an analyst, Iwata said: "Whenever we make a new game console, we.ve done it without throwing away buttons and the directional pad. The reason for that it's better to have them, because buttons and directional pads benefit gameplay response."
He continued by saying: "Nintendo isn't planning on completely ditching buttons, nor is Nintendo thinking of taking tablets as they are today and implementing them in a game console."
Project Cafe is being planned to launch at some point during the second half of 2012, with Iwata saying that it won't arrive before April.
