Sony's announced that the big black behemoth has topped 50 million in sales, also confirming that the PS3 has shifted the same amount in less time than their competition did, just three months faster, in fact.
In addition, Sony's motion control peripheral, the PlayStation Move, has hit over 8 million in sales, while there are currently 75 million registered PlayStation Network users. Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 had hit the 50 million milestone back at CES in January and that their motion control device, Kinect, had recently sold 10 million.
Looks like the PS3 is closing the gap, if not already overtaking. Analysts reported previously that the PS3 was ahead in global sales, although still far behind the Xbox 360 on its home turf.
