Battlefield 3 may not be out until Fall this year, but that's not stopping EA and DICE from building up the hype and anticipation early on. In an exclusive interview with Industry Gamers, EA's Senior Director of Marketing Lincoln Hirshberger reveals just what the publisher is doing to reclaim the FPS crown.
"With Battlefield 3, we believe that we have superior technology and gameplay. The gaming press validated this at GDC with a slew of accolades. We just need for everyone else in the mainstream to know that too," said Hirshberger.
He also notes that Bad Company 2 did not sell as well due to lack of exposure and a release in March instead of the holiday season, despite being the better game. With Battlefield 3, EA is releasing the game at the same time as the next Call of Duty, allowing them to "establish a beachhead with a larger audience."
"We have an aggressive campaign in place that will employ a variety of tactics, not just advertising," he explained. "From now until launch you'll see a constant flow of Publicity, Promotions, Retail, Community, SEO and Social activity."
Battlefield 3 is out this Fall on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It's easily one of the most anticipated games of 2011. Check out the full interview with Hirshberger over at Industry Gamers.
