Star Wars: The Old Republic is almost certainly set to hit store shelves some time this year, but publisher EA won't ignore the "outside possibility of a January launch."
EA Games President Frank Gibeau was tight-lipped about BioWare's upcoming MMO, citing two reasons for not announcing a release date.
"Everyone is waiting for us to announce the ship date. Sorry, but that's not going to happen today," he explained. "We're holding the date for two reasons. First, we don't want to tip off the competition; second, we want more data from the beta test to guarantee a spectacular experience at launch."
Star Wars: The Old Republic was first announced in 2008 and is being developed by BioWare. The game will be released for PC.
