A survey conducted by Newzoo has established that over 50 percent of the UK's entire popular actively spend money on games. It's estimated that throughout this year, total spending on games will reach around £3.6bn.
The survey estimated that £1.6bn would be spent on console games, with the next biggest earner being PC/Mac boxed products at £450m. Newzoo also estimated that another £330m would be spend on PC/Mac downloads.
Also shown was the advent of other types of gaming, with casual gaming websites generating £400m in revenue, while mobile and social are estimated to generate £300m and £210m respectively.
One thing that should be quite alarming is that while 44 percent of revenue is spent on console titles, gamers only spent 21 percent of their time playing them.
