Analyst Michael Pachter believes that Sony's new handheld console, the PlayStation Vita, will be able to succeed where its predecessor, the PlayStation Portable failed; eating away at Nintendo's market share.

The Nintendo 3DS hasn't got off to a great start and with a price point that will rival the 3DS, Pachter believes the Vita will be perfectly placed to compete times this time around.

The PSP managed to shift millions of units, but it wasn't able to make any kind of dent on Nintendo's fortunes, as the Nintendo DS went on to be one of the best selling consoles of all time.
