Electronics company Samsung will be manufacturing the CPU for the PlayStation Vita, revealed an electronics industry publication, The Semiconductor Industry News, as translated by Andriasang.

The publication also confirms earlier claims that the PSVita would sport chips of the 45 nanometer type. Sony have yet to announce a release date for the PSVita, but assures fans of a year-end or early 2012 release. In case you've been living under a rock, the price tag was announced to be a surprisingly low $249 for the regular model and $299 for the 3G model.

In related news, devs have proclaimed the PSVita as one of the most dev-friendly consoles from Sony to date. Meanwhile Ignition are looking into bringing El Shaddai over to the handheld and Disgaea 3 was listed as a launch title before Yahoo quickly pulled it off.
