Ubisoft will be introducing its own take on the Online Pass solution starting with Driver: San Francisco. Dubbed Uplay Passport, the new system will restrict online access to only those with a Uplay Passport code, which will ship with brand new copies of Driver: San Francisco.
Similar to EA, THQ and Sony's Online Passes, this only affects pre-owned customers who purchase their games second hand. The price for Uplay Passport is still to-be-determined, but it's reasonable to assume it'll be marked at a competitive price against rival publishers.
If all goes well, gamers can expect Ubisoft to implement Uplay Passport in all of their upcoming titles that feature online connectivity, including Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and possible Assassin's Creed: Revelations, although lead designer Alexandre Breault has told GamerZines that he is not aware of the initiative.
