Today, Gearbox Software and 2K Games announced that they are currently developing a sequel to the highly popular Role-Playing Shooter, Borderlands.

The aptly named 'Borderlands 2' is being described as the 'epic' sequel to the original four-player co-op loot fest. The game will feature all new characters, skills, environments, weapons and equipment, including an ambitously crafted story set in the unexplored areas of the planet Pandora.

Borderlands 2 will be shown to both fans and media alike at this year's Gamescom from the 17th - 21st of August and at PAX Prime from the 26th - 28th of August. Impatient gamers may like to know that Borderlands 2 is currently the main feature in the latest issue of Game Informer Magazine available right now.

Borderlands 2 will be available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC sometime after the 1st of April during Take-Two's fiscal year.
