Thar she blows ladies! Minecraft - Pocket Edition is officially out exclusively on Sony's Xperia Play for a limited time before hitting other Android phones on the market.

It's still in its alpha stages and the majority of the game will focus on building and crafting. Blocks can be selected using the touchscreen. There's even support for multiplayer via local wireless network. Some features include the following:

  • Randomized worlds
  • Build anything you can imagine
  • Build with 36 different kinds of blocks
  • Invite and play with friends to your world (local wireless network)
  • Save multi-player worlds on your own phone

Creator Markus "Notch" Persson assures fans that his isn't a one time deal, saying that they'll continue to develop the Pocket Edition with "frequent updates." If you have an Xperia Play, you can grab the game for just $6.99.
