At their Gamescom 2011 press conference, Sony provided some details on the new Resistance title for the Playstation Vita. The game now known as Resistance: Burning Skies, is being developed by Nihilistic Software and will take place shortly before the events of Resistance 2.
Players will take on the role of Tom Riley, a fireman who finds himself trapped in the United States during its downfall. Armed with his trusty fire axe, Riley must defend himself against the Chimeran hordes though guns will become available as the game progresses.
Sony seemed intent on showing fans that dual analogue certainly is the way to play a handheld, something their fans were telling them for years. But the Vita has many more possibilities including the use of the touch screen to perform a melee attack and performing a weapon's alternate fire.
Let's hope that developers continue the trend of using every input the console has to offer.
