The spiritual sequel to the famous Warcraft 3 mod, Defense of the Ancients (better known as Dota), Dota 2 will be shown off for the first time at a tournament, called "The International" dedicated to the game itself.
Valve founder and boss, Gabe Newell said that "The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game."
"I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary."
The winning team will recieve a handsome sum of $1 million, awarded by Valve. Nvidia will be providing the hardware for the tournament which will take place on August 17 to August 21 during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
DotA 2 will be available for both PC and Mac later this year.
