Sales for the Nintendo 3DS have seen a bump to the top of Media Create's hardware charts following Capcom's announcements of both Monster Hunter 3G and Monster Hunter 4 as exclusives for the handheld, suggesting that the Japanese market may be warming up to the device.
In the week ending September 18, the 3DS managed to sell 58,837 units "“ up from the previous week's 49,076 units "“ topping the PS3's 36,061 units sold. It's worth noting that a leap in sales is usually caused by releases of popular franchises such as Love Plus. However, the week saw no such releases, but announcements of Monster Hunter 3G and Monster Hunter 4 at this year's Tokyo Game Show.
Monster Hunter is easily one of the biggest and most successful franchises in Japan. Line ups at launch events have been massive and there are more than enough fans to convert with a 3DS exclusive, let alone two "“ one of which being the next main instalment.
