Sony's new PlayStation Suite dev kit will reportedly allow developers to release games on both PlayStation consoles and Android powered devices.

The new kit will reportedly allow developers to create and release a single game build that will work on both PlayStation consoles and Android powered tablets and smartphones -- effectively cutting the expensive and time consuming porting process the title would otherwise have to go through out of the equation.

The move was reportedly made to increase developers' interest in its existing Sony Xperia Play smartphone and forthcoming S and P tablets.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the move will apply to any of the company's existing consoles. The only PlayStation device confirmed as running on the new software is the company's forthcoming PS Vita handheld.

"By supporting development for multiple devices and by adopting libraries to create a variety of content not only limited to games, PS Suite SDK will not only help developers save their cost in creating new content but also allow them to efficiently create their content on one SDK and without having to create on several different SDKs," commented Sony on the new dev kit.
