Alongside its new female-friendly pink 3DS, Nintendo today announced three new games set to feature its iconic Mario character.
The three games will all be new entries into existing Mario franchises designed for Nintendo's 3DS handheld: Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7 and 3D Mario Tennis.
The first game Super Mario 3D Land is set to hit store shelves 13 November this year, with the second title, Mario Kart 7 following a few weeks later on 4 December. The third game 3D Mario Tennis was pegged with a nebulous 2012 release window, with Nintendo promising further details later in the year.
"The first appearance by Mario on a new Nintendo system is always cause for celebration. This fall, Nintendo is giving fans two big reasons to celebrate. On Nov. 13, Nintendo will release the Super Mario 3D Land game for Nintendo 3DS.
"Beyond the holiday season, Nintendo is already making plans for 2012. Nintendo is revealing a previously unannounced 3D Mario tennis game for the Nintendo 3DS system. Mario Tennis (name not final) will launch in 2012 and more details will be announced later," read Nintendo's statement.
