THQ and Crytek representatives have confirmed that the two companies will be collaborating to develop the next Homefront game.
THQ later clarified that it had chosen Crytek for its strong track record on first-person shooters. Most recently Crytek has been responsible for both the highly successful Crysis titles.
"Selecting Crytek to take Homefront forward underscores our strategy of working with the industry's best talent," commented Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ.
"Homefront's unique setting and storyline captivated gamers the world over. With Crytek's industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we're supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand."
THQ revealed the news earlier today. Unfortunately in the release the company didn't reveal the name of the new Homefront game, leaving it open-ended whether the game will be a true sequel or a spin-off title.
Outside of the collaboration announcement, all THQ revealed was that the "yet to be named sequel" would be released in 2014 on PC and a number of other, unspecified, consoles.
