Funcom has announced that more than 500,000 gamers that have registered to gain access to The Secret World closed beta - way more than for Age of Conan.

Trond Arnd Aas, CEO of Funcom said he was "thrilled" and "proud" of this amazing achievement. He later went on to say that "The gamer interest in The Secret World and the community size for the game is even greater than we experienced with Age of Conan at the same stage of development.

"We expect the community size to keep on expanding at an ever faster pace in the coming months as we approach open beta and launch."

The Secret World is an MMO which is based on a modern day setting, but underneath the familiar setting, there is a secret world which is ruled by three factions. This leads to conspiracy theories and mysteries to run wild.
