Indie developers Frictional Games and thechineseroom have announced that they will be working together on Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, the latest title coming from the horrifying horror series.
Speaking with Joystiq, it was revealed that thechineseroom, developers of the surreal first-person indie title Dear Esther, will be handling development while Frictional will be producing the game. They didn't reveal a specific release date, but did note that the game will be released some time later this year.
"It's not a direct sequel, in terms of it doesn't follow on from the story of Amnesia. It doesn't involve the same characters," thechineseroom's Dr. Dan Pinchbeck explained. Instead, it is set in an "alternate history and the same universe."
Indie developer thechineseroom currently has a number of projects under their fold, and they just released Dear Esther. Check out our review and Indie Spotlight interview with Dr. Dan Pinchbeck and collaborative partner Robert Briscoe.
