2K Games has announced that Irrational Games' latest creation, BioShock Infinite, will be releasing on the 16th of October in North America, with Europeans getting the game on the 19th of October.
The news came via press release, but the game's mastermind Ken Levine said the following on Twitter: "Hmmm...what day shall we release Infinite...I don't know...hell, let's do it on October 16. Why the hell not?!"
BioShock Infinite takes place in a completely different world to the original two games. Those took place in the underwater city of Rapture, but Infinite takes place in the floating city of Columbia. The premise is the same, but the execution here will be very different.
You will control a character called Booker, and you're teamed up with the AI character called Elizabeth. The game will also feature some interesting quirks, such as "1999 Mode", which pays tribute to System Shock 2, a game also created by Irrational Games.
This release date is for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions of the game. The original BioShock was a timed Xbox 360 exclusive.
