EA has rolled out a massive Battlefield 3 patch today, with the total size of the update clocking in at just over 1GB.
The update promises to improve stability of the experience, while making it a fairer, more balanced experience for everyone. However, that's not the major addition for this version of the Battlefield 3.
Players will now be able to rent out servers, which EA see as a major step forward. "Want to enable friendly fire? Done. Want to only allow spawning on your squad leader? Make it happen. Like health regeneration, but not 3D spotting? You get the idea. Your server, your rules," said Ian Tornay from EA.
There will be various price schemes available. For one day, a server will cost €1.49, for a week it'll cost €6.99, for a month it'll cost €24.99 and for three months it'll cost €59.99.
For now, the update is only available on the PS3 version of the game. However, EA has stated that the patch will be rolled out with the same functionality on the Xbox 360 "soon".
