After weeks of speculation, THQ has announced publicly that Darksiders 2 will not be meeting its original 29th of June release date. The game was shown off to the press last month.
Despite the news, THQ were quick to stress that the recent lay-offs at Vigil Games, the developer behind Darksiders II, have had no impact and that instead, the game has been delayed so that they can add extra polish to the product. They also stated that the Nintendo Wii U version of the game had nothing to do with the delay.
"It [the delay] has nothing to do with any other platform releases," said Mathew Everett, THQ's community manager. "The staffing changes at Vigil Games have not impacted the release date," he continued.
Everett was also keen to put a positive spin on the decision by saying "This is great news for the team at Vigil." He expanded with "It allows additional time for polish and to ensure that all aspects of Darksiders 2 meet the high quality bar the team is targeting."
Despite announcing the delay, THQ didn't give a specific date for when they are expecting the game to release. Instead, they stated that it would release during August, 2012.
