BioWare have shared the first teaser trailer for FUNimation and Production IG's upcoming animated film Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. The film is said to cover the events leading up to the highly acclaimed Mass Effect 3.
BioWare have not been shy to exploring various entertainment media when it comes to expanding the Mass Effect universe, with a number of comic books that currently accompany the sci-fi series' narrative. The animated film is being handled by FUNimation and Production IG, most notably known for the Ghost in the Shell series. Atsushi Takeuchi will be handling directing while Henry Gilroy is writing the story.
Paragon Lost's story follows the tour of one of the Normandy's newest members: James Vega. Throughout Mass Effect 3, Vega makes mention to Shepard of his service record with the Alliance, and this is what Paragon Lost will explore. Eventually establishing Vega's backstory and covering the events that eventually led to his appointment aboard the Normandy.
The teaser is a simple slideshow of concept and pre-production art from the film, but reveals some characters fans may recognize, including one from an ancient alien race.
