A lot has happened between Killzone Mercenary getting announced and its release in 2013 with the reputation of PlayStation Vita first person shooters. That is not stopping Guerilla Games Cambridge from bringing the next entry in the Killzone series to the Vita this fall. We now can confirm that the release date is September 17, 2013 in North America (same as GTAV ouch).
There is also a brand new trailer to show off some of the gameplay and new features to Mercenary. You will not be fighting for the ISA or Helghast and will be picking who to kill as you do different jobs. A large focus on money will also introduce a new shop system to get brand new guns to use on jobs.
The game will take place after the events of the first Killzone and will have you revisiting many of the moments throughout the trilogy. You play as Arran Danner, a gun for higher that doesn't mind killing for both sides of the war. The story focuses on an ambassador's son, whos fate will affect the outcome of the war.
The single player will include nine missions and each missions take about an hour to complete. Money earned in missions will all go to a single bank account that you can use for multiplayer as well. Multiplayer has six maps for up to eight players to fight on and three game modes to choose from. The iconic Warzone mode will be included in these three modes.
It has been quite a while since we have seen a brand new Killzone title since Killzone 3 released. Does Killzone Mercenary restore your faith in Vita shooters or is it to little to late? Let us know in the comments below what you think.
