Miyamoto said in a recent interview that he wanted Pikmin 3 to go back to basics, making the game a good mixture of challenge and exploration. He admits that he didn't agree with the changes made to Pikmin 2, even though it was more user friendly. He wanted Pikmin 3 to embrace its true roots that began in Pikmin 1.
