In their bimonthly video, Nintendo Direct revealed a strong line up for the 3DS and Wii U. President Iwata, in a silly, green hat, was especially happy to proclaim 2013 as The Year of Luigi.
He reiterated that not only is Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon coming out next month, but also announced that a special DLC is in the works for the Wii U that takes the 80+ levels of New Super Mario Bros U and transforms them into a new game starring only Luigi. It would be titled New Super Luigi U. With a smile on his face, Iwata continued on to announce that Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and Mario Golf: World Tour will be released for the 3DS this summer.
Not too much was revealed for the latest installment of Mario Golf other than Camelot was still at the helm making the game. Some video footage was shown which showed a "giant world" with tall blades of grass and a humongous Goomba. Iwata explained that Luigi was one of the main characters, but not the main character.
Another Year of Luigi announcement was not about Luigi, but another cool cat in green. Today, an official Miiverse community has been released for people to discuss The Legend of Zelda series. Iwata commented that this would be the first for a game that has yet to be released for the Wii U.
Also concerning the Wii U, Wii Street U is now available as a free download, and Need For Speed: Most Wanted U has been announced along with Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.
More 3DS games were announced such as Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins, Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move, the virtual console release of Harvest Moon and Legend of the River King, Harmo Knight by Game Freak, Kersploosh, a game where you are a rock falling down a well, and a 3D remake of Donkey Kong Country Returns.
This certainly seems to be an exciting year, especially for 3DS owners who are itching for some new experiences. Check out the video below!
