Earlier this year, Valve revealed their living room PC called Piston. Now the Xi3 Corporation has opened up pre-orders for the Piston at the reduced cost of $899.99.
Some specs of the Piston included 8GB of RAM and a 3.2GHz quad-core AMD accelerated processing unit. The base price will give you a 128GB hard drive, but if you need a bit more room to grow Valve has you covered. For $340 more you can get 256GB or add an extra $750 to the base price for a whopping total of 512GB.
Some details were released about the User Interface of the Piston as well in a video. In the video it shows that not only can you play games from Steam, but from Origin and Gaikai as well. It included many other options such as how it can be used to watch TV, listen to music, use online communications, and also be used as a computer.
It's also worth mentioning that nearly half of the options were repeated, but with "Streaming" in front of them. So you can play games as you stream them, as well with music and TV. As the announcer spoke, the Piston user began playing Tomb Raider with the announcer commenting that they don't care what you play or who you buy from, because it's all up to the user. The user interface boasts full custimisation.
Is the $100 discount enough to give Valve your hard earned cash or do they still need to do a little more to scratch your itch? The Piston is planned to hit store shelves this holiday season.
