Wii U

Much like the 3DS title Pokémon Rumble, Pokémon Scramble U will have toy Pokémon battling each other. However this time the game will make use of the Wii U GamePad's NFC reader and small Pokémon figurines. Think of Skylanders but with Pokémon.

According a to a newly leaked CoroCoro Comic magazine scan, Pokémon Scramble U for Wii U will use NFC Pocket Monster figurines. This will be the very first Wii U game to make use of the Wii U GamePad's NFC reader.

On April 24th, the figures will be going on sale at Pokémon Center retailers in Japan. The game will be downloadable and go for 1,400 yen ($18.70), and the figures will be 200 yen ($2.08) each. There will be six different types available, plus what presumably is a special type. This brings the total cost of all the figurines to about 1,400 yen ($14.55).

Its it currently unclear which Pokémon will get NFC figurines besides Pikachu. The figures are designed to be scanned into the Wii GamePad to be used in the game. Players can "raise" their NFC Pocket Monster using the figure to save the Pokémon's progress.

Pokémon Scramble U goes on sale on April 24th in Japan as a digital download. It is unknown at this point if it will make it outside of Japan but only time will tell.
