According to a report by DFC Intelligence, Dota 2 has surpassed League of Legends and is currently the most played PC game in the West.
While LoL is no longer the most played MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), the report found that Dota 2 "did not seem to cut into its popularity as much as would be expected," according to DFC analyst Jeremy Miller.
Some credit has been given to the PC gaming growth from 2012. PC gaming increased by a large 22 percent in the first quarter of 2012 and an additional 8 percent in the final quarter.
While this is great news for Valve fans, it's good to note that only core PC titles were included in the survey. Casual browser games such as those on Facebook were not included.
How do you interpret this news? Does it excite you for the obvious growth in PC gaming or are you indifferent?
