After successfully acquiring enough backers for Broken Age, Double Fine Studios decided to give it another go with a medieval title. Taking inspiration from X-COM, Final Fantasy Tactics, Fire Emblem, and even Game of Thrones, Massive Chalice is a game where it will require many generations of trained soldiers to defeat the evil demon army.

As the immortal King or Queen, you will unite your kingdom as you prepare them for battle. Double Fine describes Massive Chalice as a game of tactics and strategy. The strategy can include research and arranged marriages that can have long term effects. The tactics is for battle as you war using a turn-based system.

Because permadeath will happen, you can choose to retire your old war heroes to train up the next generation of fighters that will give their lives for your kingdom. Speaking of heroes, each playthrough of the game will give you different heroes from different bloodlines.

Describing the project as a way to "get back to basics," Double Fine hopes to make another excellent game with the financial support of the players themselves. You can find out more about Massive Chalice and its backer benefits on their official KickStarter page here.

With 27 days to go and two-thirds of the project already funded, Massive Chalice is likely to be another successfully funded project for Double Fine.
