Towards the end of Nintendo Direct's presentation, President Iwata of Nintendo revealed the next installment in the Super Smash Bros franchise for the Wii U and 3DS. While showing off gameplay footage from both systems, Nintendo also revealed two brand new characters.

The gameplay from the Wii U version was very much like that of Super Smash Bros Brawl, but will superior graphics. However, the 3DS version has an art style of its own. Each character had a noticeable black outline creating a pastel look similar to Street Fighter IV. Also to note, is that the 3DS version had stages based off of DS and 3DS games such as The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks and Super Mario 3D Land.

Concerning the new characters, they are the Villager from Animal Crossing and classic Mega Man. The villager's moves included using a bug net, digging holes to trap opponents, flying with balloons, and chopping down a tree to fall on opponents. Classic Mega Man is practically a love letter from Capcom. Not only utilizing the Rush Coil, charge beam, and slide kick, the video showed Mega Man using abilities he copied from various Robot Masters. Some of the abilities include the Crash Bomber, Leaf Shield, Hard Knuckle, Super Arm, and the fan favorite Metal Blade.

As the 2014 release approaches, Nintendo will be providing updates about the game from the official Super Smash Bros website.
