Nintendo has just announced that they will be dipping their toe in the free-to-play market. If you were hoping that the first title would be anything popular from first party Nintendo franchises, prepare to be disappointed since Steel Diver will is the first free-to-play game to come from the company.

If you are having a hard time remembering what Steel Diver was, it is the game people only bought on the 3DS since there was nothing to play at launch. This will be an all new Steel Diver and will also see a physical release along with the free downloadable version off the eShop.

No word yet on release date, but Nintendo says that the new title would be releasing soon. What do you think of Nintendo stepping into the free-to-play market with a new Steel Diver? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
