TheSixthAxis site had the opportunity to play the multiplayer mode of the long waited The Last of Us, and the first details about it have been published.
The multiplayer mode allows players to chose between two human factions that take part in campaign mode, and players will also be able to customise their characters with various clothings, weapons and draw their own emblem. Tying into the single-player setup, The Last of Us online offering will let you choose a clan, and then join in the effort to stay alive.
The clan will have various characters controlled by the AI and the "surviving" test will take place during 12 in-game weeks, with each match corresponding to a single day. It will be a constant battle against the odds as you desperately try to stay alive. Between rounds, you will be able to upgrade your weapons, or add items to your inventory as long as you have the right tools. You can also gather supplies, which are imperative to the clan's survival.
All this action will be split in two gametypes, Supply Raid and Survivors, in a 4 Vs 4 gameplay. In Supply Raid, players are allowed to respawn, but there's a limit of 20 respawns for each side as players fight over limited supplies and resources. On the other hand, in Survivors, players will only have one life in each match, with the mode consisting on seven matches. The first side to win four matches coming out on top.
The Multiplayer will also include four classes: assault, sniper, support and stealth. Each of these with four slots. Each slot can be filled with a small weapon, a large weapon or two special skills. You can check the multiplayer in the video here.
The Last of Us will be released exclusively on PS3 on June 14th.
