The rumor that Batman: Arkham Origins was going to include an online multiplayer has finally been confirmed by Warner Bros. Games. This is not your average tacked on multiplayer mode though, Arkham Origins will pit players against each other in a 3v3v2 mode called Invisible Predator Splash Damage Studios is developing the games multiplayer, so you shouldn't worry about the game's single player story suffering at all with Warner Bros. Games Montreal developing that side of the game.

If the idea of having a 3v3v2 gamemode is confusing to you, there is a brand new trailer showing off how it will work. A basic multiplayer match is set up with Joker and Bane having two henchmen each fighting for control of territory. While the two sides are battling each other Batman and Robin will be lurking in the shadows waiting to take down both sides. The trailer showcases Joker fighting Bane as Batman and Robin take on all six at once.

Now depending on who you are playing as this multiplayer will play much more differently. While Batman and Robin play the same as they do in the single player, the villain as well as their henchmen will have a very different playstyle. Detective mode is still in effect for Batman and Robin, but the villains can also use something similar. Their detective mode alternative actually runs on a battery that can run out and needs to be recharged.

Villains will also not be holding back against anyone and will be bringing out the big guns (literally). Joker has different specialty weapons that he can use, but Bane instead uses his brute strength primarily. Splash Damage Studios has seemed to strike a nice balance bringing Batman to the multiplayer world and introducing a new kind of multiplayer mode along with it.

More modes and features are sure to be announced in the coming months to the games release this fall. Are you interested in an online multiplayer mode for a Batman game or will you stick with just the story? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Batman: Arkham Origins will release October 25th worldwide on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
