The mysterious game that Sony has teased yesterday was revealed as a new Ratchet & Clank game being produced by Insomaniac Games. Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus is on its way to the PS3 and will be released this Fall.
Into the Nexus will be an epilogue to the Ratchet & Clank Future saga (Tools of Destruction, Quest For Booty, and A Crack in Time). The game will start with Ratchet and Clank transporting twin villains Vendra and Neftin Prog to the Vartax Detention Center, however things don't go according to plan, with both villans managing to escape, leaving Ratchet & Clank in the scariest sector of space they've ever visited.
Into the Nexus will contain all the ingredients that made the series famous: an adventure with a lot of humor, crazy weapons and lots of worls to explore. Some of these new weapons include the Nightmare Box, forcing enemies to either flee or destroy the box, the Vortex Grenade, forces enemies to revolve around a black hole, and probably the most strangest (and funniest) weapon, the Winterizer which turns all enemies it hits into snowmen, and while the weapon is doing its magic, Jingle Bells starts playing.
According to James Stevenson, Community Manager of the producer, Gravity will be one of the themes of Into the Nexus. Players will experience zero-gravity space and use gravity-defying gadgets, such as the Grav Tether, which allows Ratchet to attach portals strewn about the environment, creating beams that will transport him seamlessly from one portal to another. As for Ratchet's sidekick, while using Clank, players will be able to manipulate gravity to solve puzzles.
Although Into the Nexus is a PS3 exclusive, a possibility of a Vita version was left in the air. Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus will be available for PlayStation 3 this fall both digitally and on disc for $29.99.
