During Microsoft's conference it was revealed that Ryse: Son of Rome will have multiplayer. At the moment only a cooperative mode was revealed, Gladiator mode, a mode where players have to rack spectacular kills to keep a baying audience entertained.
According to Crytek, you can customize your own unique gladiator, allowing to chose from a large variety of armor, weapons, shields, and consumables, which can be earned through gold rewards from victories, XP, crowd reaction, and health. In addition, players will be able to create their own custoum challenges by using the challenge editor to mix and match the maps and events into custom playlists. Each challenge has its own leader-board and the more players who have played, the higher the reward at the end of the challenge.
It was also revealed that the game will be released with 11 multiplayer maps, plus an additional bonus map for those who purchase the Day One edition. During the event Crytek showcased two maps: Courtyard and Stronghold(see the images below).
In addition Crytek also revealed some details about the gameplay, stating that the game features a deep, multi-layered combat system that arms the player with a plethora of tools. Mastery of timing of attacks and blocks is crucial, and when an enemy is nearly defeated the player can use an Execution move to finish them off. There are also special combo-Executions that can be performed in co-op mode.
Ryse: Sone of Rome will be released this November for Xbox One.
