Sony confirmed with Polygon that the PS4 will feature voice command capabilities, however in order to use these features, players will require a PlayStation Camera. In addition, during Sony's conference (see video below), it was confirmed that the PS4 will also feature facial recognition.
"Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that PlayStation Camera allows for voice recognition and we will look forward to sharing more details in the lead up to the launch of PlayStation 4 on November 29," said a Sony representative.
In addition, during Sony's presentation at GameStop Expo 2013 in Las Vegas, Sean Coleman, Director of Sony Computer Entertainment America, highlighted some of the features of the camera that will not come included with the console and that it is described as a device that adds an incredible innovation to the world of videogames. "When you add the PlayStation camera into the mix, the pair works together to expand upon system features and enhance your PlayStation 4 experience, the new stereoscopic lenses track your body movements in games or even recognize your face easier system navigation," said Coleman.
The PS4 will be released on the 15th of November in North America, arriving at Europe two weeks later, on the 29th of November. PlayStation Eye camera will be sold separately and cost $59 in North America and €49 in Europe.
