During Sony's presentation at Gamescom, Sony revealed that players would be able to upgrade their PS3 copies of 5 selected games to their PS4 version for a low discounted price. With the PS4's launch just 2 months away, Sony finally revealed the instructions to upgrade Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch Dogs, NBA 2K14, and Battlefield 4 to the PS4 version.
In order to take advantage of this, gamers will need the PS3 game, either on Blu-ray or digital. The PS3 Blu-ray version of any of these games will include a code, which players can redeem on the PlayStation Store in order to get the PS4 version, while those that purchase the digital version will not need to redeem the code. Sony also revealed that players can redeem their codes via PS3, and that those who purchase the Blu-ray version will need the PS3 disc in order to play the PS4 version.
When players get their PS4, all they need to do is go to the PlayStation Store and look for the PS4 version of the game, and if they bought the PS3 version, the PS4 version will have a discounted price of £9.99/€9.99(or £11.99/€14.99 for NBA 2K14). However, this is a limited time offer, as players will need to make the purchase before the 31st of January, 2014 for Assassin's Creed IV and Watch Dogs, the 28th of March for Battlefield 4, and 31st of March for Call of Duty: Ghosts and NBA 2K 14 to get the discounted price.
Although other titles that will be available on both consoles, such as FIFA 14 and Need For Speed: Rivals, aren't in this list, Sony already confirmed that these will be upgradable via selected retailers.
