After nearly of year of poor console sales, the Nintendo Wii U has begun to gain noticeable traction in the United Kingdom. Attributed to the release of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, Wii U sales have increased by a massive 685 per cent.

While the specific number of Wii U units sold was not disclosed by Nintendo, this is still an improvement over the Wii U's performance in the past nine months. Wind Waker HD was also reported by Chart-Track All-Formats Charts to be ranked No. 4 in the list of UK software. However, Wind Waker has since then fallen to No. 10.

Though this is good news for Nintendo, only time will tell if this sudden spike of sales will set the trend of Wii U systems sold or if it is simply a one time event for the console.
