Pier Solar and The Great Architects HD was announced by Nintendo to be coming to the Nintendo Wii U eShop in the first quarter of 2014. However, Pier Solar HD will not only be out for the Wii U, but also the Xbox 360, PC, Mac, Linux, Android, Ouya, and the Sega Dreamcast.
Pier Solar was originally released in 2010 on the Sega Genesis, the first game released for the system in years. However, after a successful KickStarter, the game is undergoing an extensive HD treatment in order to come to more systems both old and new.
Described as a blend of 16bit and HD graphics, the new visuals are an obvious improvement over the original. However, there will be an option to change the graphics back to their original style using the in-game menu. The updated music score can be reverted back as well in the same manner. The video posted by Nintendo also boasts HD cutscenes, a Director's Cut, and added mini games. Sadly, little has been revealed concerning the Director's Cut or mini games.
With Pier Solar HD coming to an additional eight systems, gamers will not have to worry about missing out on a potentially excellent gaming experience.
