Square Enix has finally announced a release date for the Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 HD Remaster, but only for the PS3 version.
The experience will be based off of the "complete" versions of both games. This means that North Americans will finally be able to experience the "International" version of Final Fantasy X, which was released in Japan and Europe and includes the Dark Aeons and Penance. Final Fantasy X-2 will include "Last Mission", which was previously exclusive to Japan.
In North America the Final Fantasy X/X-2 remaster will be releasing on the 18th of March, 2014. Europeans will then receive the game a few days later on the 21st of March, 2014.
Those keen fans amongst us will note that in Europe, this means the game misses Square Enix's promised "Winter 2013" release date. However, it just sneaks in when looking at the North American release date.
Perhaps the most concerning news here is that Square Enix would not be drawn on a Western release date for the PS Vita version of the games. In Japan, both the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game will release on the 26th of December, 2013.
When we hear more about the release of the PS Vita version, we'll let you know. For now, let us all rejoice about the fact the PS3 version has a release date, even if it's a little later than perhaps we anticipated.
