Warner Bros. has announced their next title set in the Lord of the Rings universe, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. The title is a third-person action game, and it's being developed for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor's story takes place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will focus around a ranger named Talion. On the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor, Tailon and his family are slaughtered by the army, with Tailon being ressurected by a Spirit of vengeance, and then empowered with Wraith abilities. With these new powers, Tailon sets off to Mordor, where he will learn the origins of the Rings of Power, the truth surrounding the Sprit of vengenance, and confront his ultimate nemesis.
"In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, players will explore the dark and very personal theme of vengeance in a world where decisions have a consequence, and those consequences persist even after death," said Samantha Ryan, senior vice president of production and development of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
In order to give a more unique experience to players, the game will feature a system, dubbed 'Nemesis System,' where every enemy that the player encounters will be unique, each with its own personality, strengths, and weaknesses. By doing this, players will be able to "create" their own battles, enemies, and rewards, in a world that remembers and adapts itself to the player's choices.
At the moment, a release date for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor has yet to be revealed.
