Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One has sold over 1 million units during its first 24 hours on sale, with Microsoft calling it the "biggest launch in Xbox history." The Xbox One was launched in 13 markets, including US, Canada, Australia, and some parts of Europe and South America.
"We are humbled and grateful for the excitement of Xbox fans around the world. Seeing thousands of excited fans lined up to get their Xbox One and their love for gaming was truly a special moment for everyone on the Xbox team. We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season," said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing and strategy at Xbox.
According to Microsoft, the Xbox One is currently sold out at most retailers, but Microsoft is working to replenish stock as fast as possible. Last week, Sony announced that the PS4 had sold a similar amount of units.
The Xbox One is now available in 13 countries, and will arrive in the rest of the world in 2014.
