Over the next two months, Nintendo 3DS owners will find themselves catching up to their Wii U counterparts in both community activity and video entertainment with access to the Miiverse and YouTube. Owners of the Wii U will also be happy to know that their version of the YouTube app will soon receive an update that makes their video experience more streamlined.

Starting with this November, the Nintendo 3DS YouTube app is planned to be released before the end of the month. Utilizing the system's touch screen, players will be able to search for other videos while a video is playing on the top screen. The Wii U will also get an update around the same time for its YouTube app that will allow it to do the same as the 3DS. However, it will use the touch pad instead of a touch screen. Players can also choose to use the touch pad to play the videos instead of displaying them on the TV screen.

Perhaps the greatest announcement for the 3DS is the ability to access the Miiverse this December. Those who own a 3DS will be able to access the online community even if they do not own a Wii U. The Nintendo Direct announcement also stated that Nintendo 3DS owners will need a Nintendo Network ID. There are several other steps required to register for Miiverse, but those steps have yet to be expanded upon.

While the updates and addition of YouTube are sure to be welcomed by Wii U and 3DS owners alike, the inclusion of the Miiverse for the 3DS is sure to make the Nintendo community a more tight nit family of gamers.
