A brand new Nintendo 3DS title is making its way to the eShop, courtesy of Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune and Inti Creates. Much like Mighty No. 9, Azure Striker: Gunvolt has its roots in the Mega Man franchise both from a graphical and gameplay standpoint.
In many ways, Azure Striker is being created by a dream team of talented individuals who had their hands in past Mega Man titles. Along with Executive Producer Inafune is Yoshihisa Tsuda as Game Director who worked on Mega Man 7-9 and Mega Man X2. Joining them also is Yoshitaka Hatakeyama from Mega Man 9 who will be working in Azure Striker's art department. Ippo Yamada is in charge of music and sound effects. His work may be recognized best by his musical work in Mega Man 7, 9, and 10 as well as the entire Mega Man Zero series.
Azure Striker: Gunvolt follows a young teen named Gunvolt who can control lightning. By manipulating electricity, he can change the environment around him, strip enemies of their weapons, and even create a lock-on targeting for his gun. As he grows stronger so will his powers even to the point of levitating in the air. However, his powers are not unlimited and need to be kept in check lest he run out of juice.
Azure Striker: Gunvolt is planned for a Summer release for both Japan and the United States exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS.
