Twelve years ago, Final Fantasy XI made its debut as the first Final Fantasy MMORPG and soon became Square Enix's most profitable game in the franchise. To commemorate it's twelfth anniversary, Square is releasing a large update to the game that will include new missions, items, and much more.

Some of the highlighted items include moogle and goblin costumes, new weapons for Geomancers and and Rune Fencers, new missions, locations and quests in the Seekers of Adoulin expansion, and several missions in the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion. The Mog Bonanza 12th Vana'versary will also begin May 16 at 1am PDT and will last until June 18 at the same time. Repeat Log In Campaign No. 11 will start on May 10 8 a.m. PDT and last until June 2 at 7 a.m. PDT.

Twelve years, several expansion, an A Realm Reborn later (albeit in another game), Final Fantasy XI shows no signs of stopping. Let us know how you will celebrate over a decade of Final Fantasy XI in the comments below.
