With the second Kingdom Hearts HD collection on its way to the PS3, Square Enix has released over one dozen screenshots from the three featured games. With the images showing gameplay and cutscenes from Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Re:Coded, fans can have a better idea of what to expect from Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX when it releases later this year.
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix picks up roughly one year after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Players start off with a new protagonist named Roxas who is going through a similar, albeit more bizarre, experience that Sora had in the beginning of the first Kingdom Hearts. Birth by Sleep Final Mix has players play through the perspective of three close friends named Terra, Ventus, and Aqua. As each character goes through his or her personal adventure, they will meet up again for one final confrontation against the man who has caused them much pain and suffering. Re:Coded takes place between Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts 3D as King Mickey, Donald, and Goofy must digitize Jiminy Cricket's journal to unlock the secrets of an unexpected and cryptic message.
The Final Mix versions of Kingdom Hearts II and Birth by Sleep contain extra content such as secret bosses, extra keyblades, and color-swapped enemies. However, the Final Mix of Birth by Sleep will feature an extended adventure for Aqua concerning her time in the world of darkness.
Square Enix has been quiet on the exact release date of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX, but with E3 less than two weeks away, perhaps they will soon spill the beans.
