The shareholders of Capcom have made the decision to not renew their Takeover Defense policy. This means that it is now possible for someone to own Capcom by purchasing enough of their stock to influence the company's direction.
Capcom did not disclose the reason for the shareholders voting against the renewal of the Takeover Defense policy. However, they did say that if someone does in fact attempt to buy them out, they will take steps to insure that their board of directors are fully aware of the situation and that their shareholders will be provided with sufficient time to make a decision on the proposed buyout.
Over the years, Capcom has provided gamers with an assortment of beloved video game series such as Ghost n Goblins, Street Fight, Mega Man, Breath of Fire, Monster Hunter, and Ace Attorney. However, the future of these franchises has now become uncertain.
