A brand new update has arrived this month for Final Fantasy XI. This massive update includes various improvements and gameplay additions such as class skills, high-level weapons and armor, new item drops, and nearly two dozen bug fixes.

A new weapon skill can be unlocked for Geomancers and Rune Fencers provided that they are level 99. Geomancers can acquire the Exudation skill by speaking to Nhili Uvolep in Eastern Adoulin while Rune Rencers can learn Dimidation after seeing Gaddiux in Western Adoulin.

In addition to the weapon skills, several new abilities have been added to a few classes which can be unlocked by simply leveling up. The Paladin can learn the spell Crusade at level 88 to facilitate enmity gain. Ninjas will learn Gekka at level 88, which has the same effect as Crusade, and Yain at level 91 to suppress enmity gain. Gekka requires the Rank tool while Yain requires Furusumi.

Daily objectives have been added to the Records of Eminence and may be attempted once per day. There are various bounties that are available for completing these objectives such as A.M.A.N. vouchers. The three types of daily objectives that are available are labeled as either "Vanquish Multiple Enemies," "Buff Allies," or "Heal for X+ HP."

New recipes for item synthesis have been added as well as new items. To help make the synthesis process easier, synthesis kits can be used. However, these kits will not create high quality items. Speaking of items, over one dozen items sold by vendors have been lowered and another large set of items can now be stacked in groups of 12.

There are many, many other additions and adjustments that have been made to Final Fantasy XI such as visual effects for mining, logging, and harvesting areas, changes in party-related UI, and additional text commands. The full list of changes can be found here.

Twelve years, several expansions, and two MMORPGs later, Final Fantasy XI is still going strong and will likely continue to do so for years to come.
