Since November, Sony's current geneneration console, the Playstation 4, has sold 10 milion units. The console is currently winning the console war, and one possible reason for this current victory may have been answered now.
According to a April Nielsen study provided to Re/code, 31% of PS4 owners didn't have Sony's previous home console, but they did own an Xbox 360 or Wii. In addition, 17% did not own any last-generation console at all. However, in this study it wasn't considered the people who sold their PS3 in order to buy a PS4 as an owner of a PS3.
As the major difference between the PS4 and Xbox One at launch was the price, this means players choose to the cheaper option instead of the loyalty to the console brand.
This study inquired 1200 Americans, with ages from 7 to 54, and between February and April, about what consoles they currently own.
